Remembrance day, on 11 November we stand together to remember those who sacrificed themselves for our freedom. Across the country people will be honouring the fallen with a two-minute silence. Many will visit War Memorials to pay their respects. It is a time to reflect and raise awareness among generations. It reminds us of how fortunate we are to live peaceful lives not affected by war.
For Alpha Rail, the commemoration of the sacrifices made by the nation’s war heroes is highly important. It has also gained them a reputation as a niche manufacturer of poppy style railings for war memorials.
The company, was recently contacted by Langford Parish Council in Bedfordshire. The council asked for help with the refurbishment of their village war memorial.
Remembrance Day 2018 will be slightly more special, however. This is because it marks the 100-year anniversary since the end of WW1. Langford Parish Council saw this as the perfect opportunity to start their project and breathe new life into their War Memorial. The project is just in time for Remembrance Day.
Alpha Rail supplied and installed black decorative railings and a matching single leaf gate. This enables access to lay wreathes on the steps of the memorial. The finishing touch and visual effect was the addition of plasma cut decorative poppies. These were painted red and welded to alternative vertical bars.
Commenting, Michelle Albone from Langford Parish Council said:
“Many thanks to all those who helped us get this together in time for Remembrance Day 2018. They look amazing and we have had so many comments on how wonderful they look.”
