In keeping with the latest interior trends of air plants and indoor gardening, a stylish and contemporary new air plant display has been launched. The Airbox has been designed by award winning landscape architect Jade Goto, who has created cutting edge gardens for the RHS at both Chelsea & Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
Jade developed the Airbox design as a greening solution for urban dwellers with limited or no outside space. The low maintenance yet high aesthetic value of air plants (Tillandsia) made them the perfect plants to design a space for, leading to the creation of the Airbox.
Tillandsia are unusual in that they grow without soil, obtaining all of the nutrients that they need from their immediate environment. Originating from the deserts, forests and mountainous regions of Southern USA, the Caribbean and Central & South America, air plants have become a collectable favourite with plant enthusiasts and amateurs alike and can be found everywhere from gardening blogs to design & interior magazines.
With air plant displays becoming increasingly popular, Jade saw a gap in the market for a simple, clean, contemporary design in which to display these beautiful plants. The Airbox is handmade in the Brighton from Perspex and as each box is made to order there is the option to order bespoke colours, depending on your interior tastes.
The current collection includes a glass effect Airbox, as well as the neon brights found in the Mars Red & Neptune Blue colourways. Jade is currently working on a new collection due to be launched later this year. She said: “This is our first product launch but the feedback from both the horticultural and design community has been fantastic. We are hoping that we have designed a product that makes indoor gardening accessible to people of all abilities whilst providing a beautiful piece of design for the home.”
