Gin garden unveiled by Silent Pool at RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Silent Pool, the multi-award-winning Intricately Realised gin, will be unveiling an exquisite garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018 (22 to 26 May), designed by gardener David Neale and created by his company Neale Richards Garden Design.

Made with a delicate blend of 24 botanicals and bottled on-site in the beautiful, rural landscape of the Surrey Hills, Silent Pool Gin draws inspiration directly from its unique surroundings. The Silent Pool Gin Garden reflects this ethos, mixing sleek, hard landscaping – including textural Portland stone, Purbeck walling and weathered oak – with drifts of soft planting, to create a contemporary yet relaxing city haven. Angelica and irises represent the gin’s botanicals, offering both bold punctuation and pops of colour.

There’s even a nod to the gin-making process itself, through the use of polished copper distillation helmets, intricate laser-cut copper panels and a central “citrus peel” sculpture. This contrasts with the gentle movement of a raised infinity pool ebbing into a lower reflective pool, while multi-stemmed trees provide a serenely private canopy.

The Silent Pool Gin Garden design, featured in RHS Chelsea Flower Show’s new Space To Grow category, was created by David Neale and Neale Richards Garden Design, a company formed alongside Leigh Richards. In 2009, David won a gold medal for his Urban Serenity design in the Small Garden category at the Hampton Court Flower Show. Since then, Neale Richards Garden Design has built a further five show gardens at the Hampton Court and Chelsea Flower shows for other designers. David is very much looking forward to finally realising his dream of building his very own RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden.

Held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea every May since 1913, RHS Chelsea is the most famous flower show in the world. Showcasing the finest plants, flowers and garde design, one of the biggest attractions is the show gardens, which display both horticultural excellence and innovative landscape design. New for 2018, the Space To Grow Gardens offer original ideas, trends and inspiration for visitors to transform their own outdoor spaces.
