RHS announces new director of shows

Helena Pettit joins the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) leadership team as director of shows. In her new role Helena will be responsible for leading on the strategic planning, organisation, logistics and the commercial success of the society’s prestigious portfolio of flower shows including the world-famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

For the last nine years Helena has been managing director at Grandstand Group, a full-service event management organisation. In this role Helena worked across the Grandstand Groups three businesses delivering prestigious events including the Horse of the Year Show and The British Show Jumping National Championships in Stoneleigh.

Sue Biggs, RHS director general said: “I am delighted to welcome Helena to the RHS leadership team. She brings with her a great wealth of experience in the event sector and will play an integral part in leading the RHS and helping us fulfil our vision to enrich everyone’s life through plants and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place. Helena joins us at the dawn of the 2018 RHS show season so will really be able to hit the ground running in her new role for what is set to be a fantastic year.”

Helena Pettit said: “I am thrilled to be joining the RHS at such an exciting time with so much going on not just in the shows, but the wider organisation too. RHS shows are renowned as the best horticultural events in the world so I’m delighted to be working on them. I am relishing the challenges of working with the shows team to innovate and deliver incredible shows that inspire millions of people to get out gardening and growing plants.”
