Renowned gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh MBE will open a new exhibition at Woburn Abbey at a press launch on 21 March 2018, which celebrates the bicentenary of Humphry Repton and his influential work for the Dukes of Bedford. Recognised as the first person to invent and use the title ‘landscape gardener’, Humphry Repton regarded himself as the rightful successor to Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. Repton produced over 400 designs and schemes for gardens great and small, but of these, he stated, “none were more fully realised than at Woburn Abbey”. To mark the NHS’s 70th birthday, Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) will receive a garden from the world’s most famous flower show this summer for the benefit of patients and staff, thanks to a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) competition. The RHS Feel Good Garden, a key feature at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018 (22-26 May) designed by Matt Keightley, will be relocated to the Trust, which provides care and treatment to vulnerable adults in a built-up part of London where green space is limited.
