On Friday 10 February, Agrigem opened its doors for the official opening of ‘Gem House’. Guests attended a champagne reception before the unveiling and a grand tour of Agrigem’s new 6000sqft office and warehouse headquarters. The Parks Trust responds to parks inquiry report

The Parks Trust, the self-financing charity that manages and maintains over 5,000 acres of Milton Keynes’ green space, has released its response to the parks inquiry report, published by the Communities and Local Government Committee. As part of its inquiry, the Committee examined the impact of reduced local authority budgets on open spaces and considered concerns that the existence of public parks is under threat. A new plan to streamline the tree planting process in Scotland will be a powerful catalyst for delivering the ambitious tree planting targets recently announced by the Scottish government in its draft climate change plan. The tree planting targets are to be raised on a stepped basis from the current 10,000ha a year to 15,000ha a year by 2025. The increase in planting will grow this crucial forest carbon sink, helping the fight against climate change, as well as creating economic growth and protecting jobs, mostly in rural areas.
