Get your hands dirty with an RHS apprenticeship

RHS

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is calling on budding gardeners to apply for its two year apprenticeship scheme before applications close on 1 March.

Open to school leavers and career changers, ten places are available across the four world-class RHS gardens; Wisley in Surrey, Rosemoor in Devon, Hyde Hall in Essex and Harlow Carr in Yorkshire.

Intended as a first step to a career in horticulture, successful applicants will combine working with inspiring garden teams with more formal learning delivered by a local college to learn about the cultivation and maintenance of ornamental gardens. In 2017, RHS apprentices also helped build a garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show and supported expert judges in the floral marquee at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Suzanne Moss, RHS head of education and learning said: “Delivering the Trailblazer Apprenticeship standard for a second year, the RHS apprenticeship scheme is designed to marry together the practical skill of gardening with college based learning, providing passionate gardeners with an inspiring introduction to horticulture and a first step on the career ladder.”

The 2018 apprenticeship programme starts in August.
