Funding agreed for Marwood Community Hall project

Marwood Hall, Devon

Marwood Community Hall will soon have a make-over thanks to over £17,000 of funding from North Devon Council.

North Devon Council’s Executive has this week approved the release of over £17,000 of Section 106 funding for enhancements, which include landscaping the exterior space around the hall and the creation of an outdoor seating area.

Executive Member for parks, leisure and culture, Councillor Dick Jones, says: “I’m very pleased to see this funding distributed towards village hall improvements for Marwood. S106 contributions, made as part of major planning applications, allow the council to give something back to the community and help projects to receive funding that can be vital to help provide much needed facilities.”

Ward member, Councillor Joe Tucker, says: “I have always supported the Marwood Community Hall project. It is a great asset for the community and the village school. The £17,000 S106 monies from the development in Prixford will help to put the finishing touches to this building. I would also like to thank the Chairman and officers who look after this Community building, most sincerely, for the vast amount of work it entails.”
