Bowles & Wyer wins six awards at BALI 2017

Landscape company Bowles & Wyer has won six awards at the BALI Awards 2017 including three prestigious Principal Awards in the ‘Grounds Maintenance’, ‘Soft Landscaping’ and ‘Green Roof Installations & Roof Gardens’ categories.

Jeff Stephenson, Head of Horticulture & Aftercare, collected a Principal Award in the ‘Grounds Maintenance’ category for a private garden in West London that he and his team have been responsible for, for over 7 years. Originally planted by Bowles & Wyer in 2011 in collaboration with the owner, Jeff and his team have carefully nurtured the plants as they’ve matured, shaping them to fit the proportions of the space and allowing the design to be realised exactly as it was intended.

The company also picked up Principal Awards in the ‘Green Roof Installations and Roof Gardens’ category for the installation of two roof terraces in the heart of London designed by award-winning designer Tom Stuart-Smith; and the ‘Soft Landscaping’ category for its involvement in a new scheme to improve the public spaces around St Peter’s College, Oxford, including improved green spaces and planting.

Jeff Stephenson, whose team looks after all three projects, said: “it’s such an honour to be given accolades like this by our peers. Horticulture is fundamental to all Bowles & Wyer’s projects and we strive to give the best possible care to keep every garden looking its best all year round. To be recognised by BALI is testament to the hard work that goes into everything we do and is a tribute to all the people that work on the projects.”

The BALI Awards, which are organised by the British Association of Landscape Industries, are the most sought after awards in the industry and recognise designers and landscapers who demonstrate exceptionally high standards of professionalism and skill in their industry.

Bowles & Wyer also picked up two awards in the ‘Domestic Garden Construction’ categories and one for ‘BALI Registered Contractors and Designers’.

John Wyer, CEO of Bowles & Wyer, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won six awards and in particular for the recognition that has been given to our Horticulture & Aftercare team. Good gardening skills are not valued enough in our industry but for us it’s always been an integral part of the business. Jeff Stephenson has been with us for over 20 years and his knowledge and skills are unrivalled. I’m delighted to see him get the recognition he deserves.”

Bowles & Wyer has been a recipient of 27 previous BALI awards for design and build of both residential and commercial projects including winning the ‘Grand Award’ in 2010.
